Chad Collins - Band Director
Mr. Collins is a 1996 honors graduate of the Moores School of Music at the University of Houston where he studied Music Theory and Clarinet/Bass Clarinet. While at UH, he was drum major of the UH “Spirit of Houston” Marching Band and performed in both the Wind Ensemble and Symphony Orchestra. In high school, Mr. Collins was selected as a member of the Texas All-State Orchestra. In 2011, he received his Master of Education degree in Education Administration from Lamar University and holds a principal's certificate.
Mr. Collins has taught in the Spring, Houston, Cy-Fair, and Garrison school districts at both the high school and middle school levels, where his bands received numerous UIL Sweepstakes and First Division awards. The Honors Band at Elkins was named a 2018 TMEA 5A State Honor Band Finalist under his direction.
Joseph Chen - Assistant Band Director
Mr. Chen received his Bachelor's degree in Music with Elective Studies in Teacher Certification from the University of Houston. He was a part of Danny Vinson's euphonium studio and a member of the Spirit of Houston Marching Band for five years. Mr. Chen was also a member of the Moores School of Music Wind Ensemble. He was a Moores School of Music Ambassador, helping with the recruitment of the music school and the audition process. Mr. Chen is a former marching member of The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps on lead baritone from 2013-2015, and was a one of the drum majors in 2016. He now serves on the brass staff of the corps.
Mr. Chen is a product of FBISD, having graduated from Kempner High School in 2012.
Christopher Dial - Assistant Band Director/Percussion Specialist
Mr. Dial just completed his first year of teaching as an assistant band director at Mance Park Middle School and director of percussion for all Huntsville ISD campuses. Prior to his work in Huntsville, Mr. Dial received his Master of Music degree at Sam Houston State University where he studied percussion performance under Dr. John Lane and was principal percussionist for the Wind Ensemble and Symphony Orchestra.
Before moving to Texas, Mr. Dial attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where he majored in Percussion Performance and Music Education. He performed at the College Band Directors National Association Convention in 2013 and was privileged to perform world premieres of works by John Mackey, Stephen Bryant, and Scott Lindroth as well as participate in three commercially-available albums with the wind ensemble: “Finish Line!” (2011), “Arts and Letters” (2014), and “Stories and Sanctuaries” (2015).
Tiffany Quinones - Guard Director
Ms. Quinones was a founding member of Emblem 281, an A Class Finalist in 2005, and marched from 2001-2005. In 2006, she performed with Fortitude who was an Open Class finalist. From 2007-2009, Ms. Quinones performed as a member of Code Black, the 2007 Independent Open Class Gold Medalists and 2008 World Class Finalist. Her drum corps experience includes marching with Capital Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps. Currently, Ms. Quinones is the Color Guard Caption Head for The Guardians Drum and Bugle Corps. She formerly taught the color guard at Klein Collins HS for seven years. Ms. Quinones holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History from the University of Houston.
